What is AFT-Metoprolol CR?
AFT-Metoprolol CR containing the active ingredient metoprolol succinate is considered a beta blocker type of medication. The medication works by blocking the action of certain natural chemicals in the body to relax blood vessels and slow the heart rate. It can be used to treat chest pain (angina), heart failure and high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering high blood pressure can help prevent strokes, heart attacks and kidney problems.
How is AFT-Metoprolol CR used?
AFT-Metoprolol CR is usually taken orally once per day or as directed by a doctor. The medication should be taken with or just after a meal along with a full glass of water. Dosage will depend on the patient's condition and their response to the therapy, contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment. The controlled release tablets should be swallowed whole and not chewed, crushed, split or broken before consumption to prevent all of the drug from being released at one time.
