What is ALUPENT-10?
Alupent-10 belongs to a class of medications called bronchodilators. The active ingredient orciprenaline sulphate relaxes and opens the air passages in the lungs, making it easier to breathe. The medication will treat symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath and trouble breathing caused by conditions such as asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
How is ALUPENT-10 used?
Alupent-10 should be taken orally as directed by a doctor, usually 3 to 4 times per day. The tablets can be taken with or without food but should be taken with plenty of water to prevent an upset stomach. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patient’s response to the treatment. The medication can control the symptoms of asthma and other lung disease but cannot be used as a cure for the conditions.
Adverse effects
Alupent-10 may cause unwanted side effects such as:
- Headaches
- Fatigue
- Dizziness
- Upset stomach
- Nausea
- Insomnia
- Diarrhea
- Tremors
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or encounter more severe side effects such as:
- Increased difficulty breathing
- Irregular heartbeat
- Muscle cramps
- Chest pain
Warnings
Tell your doctor if you are using other bronchodilators as it may cause an unwanted drug interaction.
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
ALUPENT-10 is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
