What is Acivir 800?
Acivir 800 can be used to treat shingles (herpes zoster), cold sores around the mouth (herpes simplex) and chickenpox. The active ingredient acyclovir works by slowing the spread and growth of the herpes virus to allow the immune system to fight the infection. It belongs to a class of antiviral medications called synthetic nucleoside analogues. Some people may also use the medication to treat and prevent future outbreaks of genital herpes.
How is Acivir 800 used?
Acivir 800 should be taken with some food along with plenty of fluids throughout the treatment. It should be taken 2 to 5 times per day for 5 to 10 days or as directed by a doctor. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patient’s response to the therapy. The medication can be used to treat herpes related conditions but cannot be used to cure the herpes virus.
Adverse effects
Acivir 800 may cause side effects such as:

Warnings

Acivir 800 is not always suitable for all patients.
