What is Adaclene Gel?
Adaclene Gel containing the active ingredient adapalene belongs to a class of medications called retinoids (a form of vitamin A). The medicated gel is used to prevent pimples, blackheads and spots formation under the surface of the skin to get rid of mild to moderate acne. The medication can unclog pores and sebaceous glands by preventing an accumulation of oil on the skin.
How is Adaclene Gel used?
Adaclene Gel is usually applied topically once per day at bedtime or as otherwise directed by a doctor. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. Prior to applying the gel, clean the affected area with mild cleanser and dry with a clean towel. Administer a small amount of the gel to the affected area and gently massage it into the skin. It is not advised to use any other skin products unless you get permission from the doctor.
Adverse effects
Patients using Adaclene Gel may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Warmth or stinging sensation at application site
- Difficulty breathing
- Dry skin
- Itching
- Scaling or peeling skin
- Redness of skin
- Worsening of acne
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or worsen.
Warnings
Do not apply to skin that is broken, sunburned or covered with eczema.
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Adaclene Gel is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
