What is Aerius?
Aerius is used to treat symptoms such as watery eyes, sneezing, hives and a runny or blocked nose when in contact with substances such as insect bites, dust mites, pet fur or pollen. The active ingredient desloratadine is considered a non drowsy antihistamine type of medication that reduces the effect of the natural chemical histamine in the body. It is used to treat perennial allergic rhinitis as well as seasonal allergic reactions.
How is Aerius used?
Aerius should be taken orally once per day with or without food unless directed otherwise by a doctor. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patient’s response to the treatment. The tablets should be swallowed whole and should not be crushed, chewed or broken to prevent too much of the drug from being released at one time.
