What is Albaquin Cream?
Albaquin Cream containing the active ingredient monobenzone is considered a depigmenting agent type of medication. The cream is an effective treatment of vitiligo skin disorder. Vitiligo is a skin condition which causes the skin to have an uneven appearance due to a loss of skin color. The medication works by permanently lightening darker skin around the areas of vitiligo to treat the uneven appearance of the skin.
How is Albaquin Cream used?
A thin layer of Albaquin Cream should be applied topically 2 to 3 times per day or as directed by a doctor. Once the desired skin color is achieved, it should only be applied as needed to maintain the skin color, usually 2 times per week. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. Do not discontinue the treatment thinking it is not working as it may take up to 4 months for the full effects of the cream to be felt.
Adverse effects
Patients using Albaquin Cream may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Burning, irritation or redness at application site
- Cracking or peeling of the skin
- Itching or swelling
- Dizziness
- Difficulty breathing or swallowing
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or worsen.
Warnings
Contact a doctor if your condition persists or worsens after 4 months.
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Albaquin Cream is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
The correct dosage and prescription commonly depend on the patient and the condition being treated. Do not adjust your dosage without the approval of your health care provider. This product is only for use as prescribed and instructed. |
