What is Algesal Ointment?
Algesal Ointment containing the active ingredient dietilamin salisilat is considered a local analgesic type of medication. The medication has anti-inflammatory and painkilling properties. It works by producing the sensation of heat at the application site to distract the brain and reduce the perception of the pain. The ointment will also decrease the inflammation of the application site. It is prescribed to relieve aches and pains of minor muscle or joint conditions such as lumbago, rheumatism, fibrositis, sciatica, sprains, strains and bruises.
How is Algesal Ointment used?
Algesal Ointment is usually applied topically 3 times per day or as otherwise directed by a doctor. Dosage and length of treatment will depend on the patient's condition and their response to the therapy, contact a doctor for the proper dosage. Prior to applying the ointment, wash your hands and the affected area with soap and water. Place a small amount of the ointment to the painful area and massage it in until it is fully absorbed into the skin.
Adverse effects
