Amace-BP (Benazepril/Amlodipine) - 10mg/5mg (10 Tablets)

What is Amace-BP?
Amace-BP is a combination of an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor (Benazepril) a calcium channel blocker (Amlodipine) used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). It is usually precribed when either drug has not had sufficient antihypertensive effect by itself.

How is Amace-BP used?
Amace-BP is a combination of two different medicines. It is usually only used after monotherapy with either of the active ingredients has not worked well enough.

The most commonly prescribed dosage is 10mg of benazepril and 5 mg of amlodipine (one tablet) taken daily.

Adverse effects
Common side effects of Amace-BP include:

• dry cough
• swelling of the extremites (hands / feet / ankles)

Amace-BP can cause you to feel light-headed and dizzy. You can help reduce this by standing or sitting up slowly.

More serious side effects that will require urgent medical attention include:

• muscle weakness
• a heartbeat that is unusually fast
• a heartbeat that is unusually slow
• an itrregular heartbeat

Warnings
There are certain circumstances when Amace-BP will not be the best treatment for you. Tell you doctor if any of the following apply to you:

• allergies or hypersensitivity to ACE inhibitors or calcium channel blockers
• diabetes (especially if being treated with Aliskiren)
• heart condition
• kidney problems
• liver problems
• systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)
• scleroderma
• collagen vascular disease
• if you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant or breast-feeding
