What is Apo-Primidone?
Apo-Primidone containing the active ingredient primidone is considered an anti-epileptic drug also known as barbiturate anticonvulsant type of medication. The medication works by decreasing the abnormal electrical activity in the brain that occurs during seizures. It can be used alone or with other medications to control seizures and lessen the risk of harm when you lose consciousness.
How is Apo-Primidone used?
Apo-Primidone is usually taken orally 2 to 4 times per day or as directed by a doctor. To prevent an upset stomach, the tablets should be taken with a meal along with plenty of water. Take the medication at the same time each day as it works best when the drug is kept at a constant level in the body. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the medication. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor, even if you feel fine, as abruptly stopping the medication may lead to an increase in seizures.
