What is Apo-Amoxi?
Apo-Amoxi works by stopping the growth and killing bacteria in the body. The active ingredient amoxicillin is a penicillin type of broad spectrum antibiotics used to treat conditions such as sinusitis, otitis media, gonorrhea, pneumonia, bronchitis, tonsillitis as well as infections of the skin, throat nose and urinary tract (UTI). Some patients may also use it along with other types of antibiotics to treat stomach ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection.
How is Apo-Amoxi used?
Apo-Amoxi should only be taken as directed by a doctor, usually 3 times per day at least 8 hours apart. The medication can be taken with or without food but should be taken with a glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. The capsules should be swallowed whole and not broken, crushed or chewed prior to consumption.
Adverse effects
Apo-Amoxi may cause unwanted side effects such as:
- Unusual bleeding or bruising
- Excessive fatigue
- Jaundice
- Headaches
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
- Nausea
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or worsen.
Warnings
The medication can be used to treat bacterial infections but cannot be used to treat viral infections such as the flu or common cold.
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Apo-Amoxi is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
The correct dosage and prescription commonly depend on the patient and the condition being treated. Do not adjust your dosage without the approval of your health care provider. This product is only for use as prescribed and instructed. |
