What is Apotex Pharmaceuticals?
Apo-Prednisone is a corticosteroid that prevents the release of certain important substances in the immune system that cause inflammation. It also decreases the immune system’s response to various diseases and to reduce swelling and allergic type reactions. It can be used to treat symptoms such as arthritis, allergic disorders, skin conditions, lupus, psoriasis, multiple sclerosis and various conditions that affect the lung, kidney, stomach and intestines.
How is Apo-Prednisone used?
Apo-Prednisone is usually taken orally with plenty of water 1 to 4 times daily. To prevent an upset stomach, patients should take the medication with a glass of milk or a meal. The tablets should be taken whole and not chewed, crushed or cut. Dosage and length of treatment depends on the patient’s condition and response to the therapy, consult a doctor for the correct dosage. Do not stop the treatment without consulting a doctor as abruptly stopping medication may lead to severe withdrawal symptoms.

Patients using Apo-Prednisone may encounter side effects such as:

Warnings
The medication may lead to a failed urine test. Let your examiner know you are taking this medication before any urine tests
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Apo-Prednisone is not always suitable for all patients.
