What is Aricept Evess?
Aricept Evess can improve mental functions such as awareness, reasoning, memory, attention and thinking by preventing the breakdown of the natural substance acetylcholine in the body. The active ingredient donepezil can help slow down the loss of the mental functions to help treat mild to moderate dementia caused by Alzheimer’s disease. The medication is known as a cholinesterase inhibitor type of medication. The medication can slow and treat mental conditions but cannot be used as a cure or preventative for the loss of mental abilities in the future.
How is Aricept Evess used?
Aricept can be taken with or without food once per day at bedtime or as directed by a doctor. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the condition of the patient and their response to the medication. The disintegrating tablets can be used if patients are having difficulty swallowing the normal tablets. The medication should be placed on the tongue with dry hands and allowed to dissolve and not swallowed whole or chewed. Swallow several times as the tablet dissolves and you can drink a glass of water after the tablet dissolves completely to wash down the medication if you prefer.
Adverse effects
Aricept may lead to unwanted side effects such as:
- Dizziness
- Drowsiness
- Diarrhea
- Weight loss
- Vomiting
- Insomnia
- Nausea
- Loss of appetite
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or encounter more severe side effects such as:
- Seizures
- Tremors
- Painful or difficult urination
- Black, bloody or tarry stools
- Fainting
- Hallucinations
- Irregular heartbeat
- Muscle cramps
Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Aricept Evess is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
