What is Arimidex?
Arimidex can be used alone or along with other medications and treatments such as surgery or radiation to treat breast cancer in women who have passed menopause. The active ingredient anastrozole belongs to a type of medications called nonsteroidal aromatase inhibitors. The medication works by decreasing the estrogen produced in the body to slow the growth and shrink certain types of breast tumors that require estrogen to grow.
How is Arimidex used?

Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. Continue taking the medication until your health care provider tells you to stop as some patients may need to continue with the treatment for up to 5 years.
