What is Arrow-Brimonidine Eye Drops?
Arrow-Brimonidine Eye Drops containing the active ingredient brimonidine tartrate belongs to a class of medications called alpha adrenergic agonists. The medication works by stimulating alpha receptors on blood vessels in the eye to reduce the production and inflow of eye fluids into the eyeball as well as increasing the drainage of fluid from the eye. These 2 actions together can help patients with glaucoma decrease pressure inside the eye to prevent nerve damage and vision loss as well as treat ocular hypertension. The eye drops should be used to treat patients who cannot use beta blocker type eye drops.
How is Arrow-Brimonidine Eye Drops used?
Arrow-Brimonidine Eye Drops should be administered to the affected eyes 3 times per day in evenly spaced intervals or as directed by a doctor. Dosage will depend on the patient's condition and their response to the therapy, contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment.
Prior to applying the medication, wash your hands with soap and water to prevent contamination. To apply the eye drops, tilt the head up slightly and pull down the lower eye lid to form a pocket. Allow one drop to fall into the pocket and close your eye for 1 to 2 minutes while you tilt the head forward. Apply gentle pressure on the tear duct to prevent the liquid from draining away. Repeat as necessary for additional doses for both eyes but wait at least 5 minutes before applying the next drop.
