What is Arrow-Amitriptyline?
Arrow-Amitriptyline containing the active ingredient amitriptyline is considered a tricyclic antidepressant (TCA) type of medication. The medication works by preventing serotonin and noradrenaline from being reabsorbed into the nerve cells in the brain to prolong their mood lightening effect. The tablets were generally used in the treatment of depression in the past but currently they are more commonly used to prevent migraine headaches, certain types of nerve pain and even nocturnal bedwetting in children below 6 years old.
How is Arrow-Amitriptyline used?
Arrow-Amitriptyline is usually taken orally 1 to 4 times per day or as directed by a doctor. The medication can be taken with or without food but should be taken with a glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patient’s response to the therapy. Do not discontinue the treatment without consulting a doctor as abruptly stopping the treatment may cause severe withdrawal symptoms.
