What is Azithral-250?
Azithral containing the active ingredient azithromycin is a macrolide type antibiotic. The tablets work by stopping the growth of bacteria to treat infections. The medication can be used to treat certain bacterial infections such as bronchitis, pneumonia, sexually transmitted diseases (STD) as well as infections of the ears, sinuses, skin and throat. It can be used to treat bacterial infections but cannot be used to treat viral infections such as the common cold or flu.
How is Azithral-250 used?
Azithral is usually taken once per day or as directed by a doctor. The tablets can be taken with or without food but should be taken with plenty of fluids throughout the treatment. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient's condition and their response to the therapy. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor, even if your symptoms have healed, as abruptly stopping the treatment may cause a relapse in the condition and allowing the bacteria to become immune to the antibiotic.
