What is Azopt Eye Drops?
Azopt Eye Drops containing the active ingredient brinzolamide is considered a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor type of medication. It works by blocking certain enzymes in the front part of the eye to reduce the amount of fluid being produced and help lower the pressure within the eye. The eye drops are used to treat certain types of glaucoma, ocular hypertension and other eye diseases.
How is Azopt Eye Drops used?
Azopt Eye Drops should be applied to each affected eye 3 times per day or as directed by a doctor. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the medication. Prior to applying the eye drops, it is advised to wash and dry your hands thoroughly with soap and water to prevent contamination. To apply the solution, tilt the head back and pull the lower eye lid down with a finger to form a pocket. Look up and gently squeeze a single drop into the pocket. Close your eyes for at least 1 to 2 minutes and gently press a finger on the inside corner of the eye to keep the liquid from draining into the tear duct. Repeat as necessary for additional dosages in each affected eye.
