What is Bekunis?
Bekunis belongs to a class of medications called stimulant laxatives. The active ingredient sennosides is extracted from the Senna fruit, the most common natural laxative. The medication works by stimulating the nerve endings in the walls of the large intestines and rectum to cause the muscles to contract more often and with increased force to move the contents through the colon so the bowel can be emptied. The tablets can be used to treat constipation or to empty the bowels prior to examinations or surgery.
How is Bekunis used?
Bekunis should only be used as required or as directed by a doctor. The tablets are usually taken orally at bedtime and will produce bowel movement within 6 to 12 hours of consumption. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. It is not recommended to use the supplement for longer than 7 days unless directed by a doctor as it may cause the bowels to lose their normal activity.
