What is Betnovate-C Cream?
Betnovate-C Cream contains 2 active ingredients, betamethasone valerate a topical corticosteroid and clioquinol an anti-infective type of medication. The combination medication works by fighting bacterial and fungal infections to help reduce swelling and irritation of the skin. The cream can be used to treat skin conditions such as psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema and insect bites that are already infected or have a high chance of becoming infected.
How is Betnovate-C Cream used?
Betnovate-C Cream is usually applied topically 2 to 3 times per day or as directed by a doctor. Your health care provider may reduce your dosage as the skin condition gets better. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. The medication is suitable for moist, weeping areas of the skin.
Prior to applying the medication, wash and dry your hands and the affected area with mild soap and water. Squeeze a finger unit of the cream onto a fingertip and gently massage it into the skin until it has all disappeared. Unless you are treating your hands, wash your hands immediately after using the medication.
