What is Betnovate Lotion?
Betnovate Lotion containing the active ingredient betamethasone valerate is considered a potent topical corticosteroid type of medication. It works by acting inside the skin cells to decrease the release of some inflammatory substances to reduce itching, redness and swelling. The lotion can be used to treat mild cases of skin conditions such as dermatitis, psoriasis and eczema.
How is Betnovate Lotion used?
Betnovate Lotion is usually applied topically 1 to 2 times per day or as directed by a doctor. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the patient's condition and their response to the therapy. The lotion spreads easily and is more suitable for hairy areas of skin or when minimal application to a large area of skin is needed.
Wash and dry your hands and the affected area prior to applying the lotion. Squeeze the lotion onto a fingertip and gently massage it into the affected area until it has all disappeared. Unless the hands are a part of the treated area, wash your hands immediately after applying the medication. It is not recommended to wear tight clothing or wrap the treated area in dressing.
