What is Bezalip Retard SR?
Bezalip Retard SR containing the active ingredient bezafibrate is considered a fibrates type of medication. The medication works by helping to lower low density lipoprotein (LDL) or “bad cholesterol” and increasing the amounts of high density lipoprotein (HDL) or “good cholesterol”. It should be used along with a proper diet, an exercise program and weight loss to treat high cholesterol and decrease the risk of heart disease, strokes and blood circulation problems.
How is Bezalip Retard SR used?
Bezalip Retard SR is usually taken orally once per day or as directed by a doctor. The medication should be taken with or just after a meal along with a full glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. The controlled release tablets should be taken whole and not broken, split, crushed or chewed prior to swallowing. Do not discontinue the treatment without consulting a doctor as abruptly stopping the medication may cause the symptoms to return.
