What is C-NAC?
C-NAC eye drops containing the active ingredients sodium carboxymethylcellulose and N-Acetyl-Carnosine provide a safe, long term treatment for cataracts. The eye drops have been clinically proven to work as an alternative to surgery for the treatment and even reversal of certain eye conditions such as senile cataracts. The lubrication factor can help protect the eyes against dry eyes, irritation and carry more of the medication into the eye.
How is C-NAC used?
C-NAC is usually applied 1 drop to each affected eye twice per day, once in the morning and once at night or as otherwise directed by a doctor. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the medication. To apply the drops, wash your hands and pull down on the lower eyelid to create a pouch. Tilt the head back and hold the dropper above the eye, look up and away from the dropper and squeeze a drop into the eye before closing the eyes. Gently press down on the inside corner of the eye with a finger to prevent the solution from draining into the tear duct. Do not blink or reopen the eye for at least 60 seconds after application of the medication. Repeat as needed for additional doses in either eye.
Adverse effects
C-NAC is generally well tolerated but may cause side effects such as:
- Stinging or burning in the eyes
- Temporary blurred vision
- Dizziness
- Trouble breathing
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or worsen.
