What is Campicillin?
Campicillin containing the active ingredient ampicillin is considered a penicillin type antibiotic. The capsules can be used to treat a variety of bacterial infections such as pneumonia, bronchitis, sinusitis, otitis media, gonorrhea, E. coli, salmonella as well as infections of the skin and urinary tract. The capsules can be used to treat bacterial infections but cannot be used to treat viral infections such as the flu or common cold.
How is Campicillin used?
Campicillin is usually taken orally every 6 hours unless otherwise directed by a doctor. The capsules should be taken on an empty stomach along with a full glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patient’s response to the therapy. Always finish the prescribed course of treatment as abruptly stopping the medication may cause the infection to return and become immune to the antibiotic.
