What is Carnitor?
Carnitor-500 (Levocarnitine) has the following therapeutic effects: anabolic, antihypoxic, antithyroid, stimulation, and regenerating. It is an amino acid which is classified as one of the B vitamins and is sometimes referred to as the "growth vitamin", because it catalyzes carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism. This chemical compound can affect most metabolic reactions.
Carnitor stimulates the catabolism (breakdown) of fat tissue. It stimulates the transportation of fatty acids through mitochondrial membranes and the utilization of long-chain molecules of palmitic and other acids.
Carnitor modifies carbohydrate metabolism, pushing glucose from the receptors and activating anaerobic ways of synthesizing carbohydrates and generating energy. This fact explains its antihypoxic action, so it is used to eliminate the impacts of craniocerebral injuries, as well as in the acute phase of heart attack and some other critical conditions.
Carnitor has an anabolic effect on protein metabolism (i.e. accelerates the synthesis and slows down the breakdown). Therefore, it is often used by athletes in their practice, especially when gaining muscle and in the pre-contest period.
