What is Cerenia?
Cerenia with its active ingredient maropitant is used to prevent acute vomiting in dogs. It is a non-sedating, safe and effective medication given to dogs 16 weeks of age or older. It helps block vomiting signals in the dog's brain to help prevent vomiting. It is most effective treating motion sickness in dogs.
How is Cerenia used?
Cerenia is taken orally once a day for up to 2 days in a row. Dogs should not be fed 1 hour prior to taking the medication and should be given 2 hours prior to travel to prevent motion sickness. The tablets should not be given along with fatty foods as they may prevent the tablet from dissolving and delaying the effectiveness of the medication. Contact a veterinarian for the correct dosage as it will depend on the pet's weight, condition and response to the therapy.
Adverse effects
Side effects for Cerenia is generally very rare but may cause side effects such as:
- Drooling
- Drowsiness
- Lethargy
- Lack of appetite
- Diarrhea

Warnings
