What is Ciplox-250?
Ciplox containing the active ingredient ciprofloxacin hydrochloride is considered a fluoroquinolones type of medication. It works by stopping the growth and killing bacteria that cause infection. The medication is used to treat conditions such as pneumonia, bronchitis, otitis media, sinusitis, urinary tract infections and respiratory tract infections. Some people may also use it to treat or prevent anthrax after exposure.
How is Ciplox-250 used?
Ciplox is usually taken orally twice per day or as directed by a doctor. The tablets can be taken with or without food but should be taken with plenty of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patient’s response to the therapy. It is recommended to take the tablets whole and not split, crushed or chewed. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor as stopping the treatment before the course is finished may lead to the infection from returning and resistant to the antibiotic.

Patients using Ciplox may encounter unwanted side effects such as:

- Seizures
- Jaundice
- Easy bruising or bleeding
- Mental or mood changes
- Difficulty breathing or swallowing
- Change in color of urine
- Irregular heartbeat
Warnings
The medication will not treat viral infections such as the flu or the common cold.
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Ciplox-250 is not always suitable for all patients.
