What is Clincitop Gel?
Clincitop Gel containing the active ingredient clindamycin is considered a lincomycin antibiotics type of medication. The medication works by preventing bacteria from producing proteins that are essential to them. Without these proteins the bacteria cannot grow, replicate and increase in numbers which will allow the immune system to treat the infection. The gel is mainly prescribed to treat serious infections caused by bacteria such as acne.
How is Clincitop Gel used?
Clincitop Gel should be applied topically once per day or as directed by a doctor. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. Continue to use the medication until the fully prescribed amount is completed, even if symptoms look healed, as abruptly stopping the treatment can cause a relapse in the patient’s condition and allow the bacteria to become immune to antibiotics. Prior to applying the gel, wash and dry your hands and affected area thoroughly. Apply a thin layer of the gel to the affected area and gently massage it in. Wash your hands immediately after applying the medication.
