What is Covance-50?
Covance containing the active ingredient losartan potassium is considered an angiotensin II receptor antagonist type of medication. The tablets work by blocking the action of certain natural substances in the body that tighten the blood vessels to allow smoother blood flow and lowering blood pressure. The medication can be used alone or in combination with other medications to treat hypertension (high blood pressure), reduce the risk of strokes in people who have high blood pressure and other heart complications. Some people diagnosed with type 2 diabetes may also use the medication to slow long term kidney damage.
How is Covance-50 used?
Covance is usually taken orally 1 to 2 times per day or as directed by a doctor. The tablets can be taken with or without food but should be taken with plenty of water to prevent dehydration. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patient's response to the therapy. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor, even if you feel better, as there are usually no visible symptoms for hypertension.
