What is Cytomid?
Cytomid containing the active ingredient flutamide is a nonsteroidal anti-androgen type of medication. It works by preventing the actions of androgens in the prostate to stop the growth and spread of cancer cells as the cancer cells need male hormones to grow. The medication can be used alone or with other medications and sometimes with radiation therapy to treat prostate cancer.
How is Cytomid used?
Cytomid is usually taken orally 3 times daily or as directed by a doctor. The tablets can be taken with or without food but should be taken with some water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. Do not stop the medication without consulting a doctor as abruptly stopping the medication may cause the cancer to spread more rapidly.
