Allopurinol-Apotex (Allopurinol) is a type of Xanthane Oxidase Inhibitor that can help to cut down on the amount of uric acid in the body. This isn't a medication though to treat gout outbreaks though. Rather, it is one that aids with the prevention of gout. There are plenty of other medications including anti inflammatory and pain killers that can be used when you are actually going through a gout attack.
How is Allopurinol-Apotex used?
Allopurinol-Apotex is usually taken orally as directed by a doctor. The medication should ideally be taken after a meal along with a full glass of water. It is important to drink plenty of water while using the drug. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the patient's condition and their response to the therapy. Do not discontinue the medication thinking the treatment is not working as you may have more gout attacks for the first several months while the body removes extra uric acid.
