What is Dapa?
Dapa is commonly used as a treatment for high blood pressure. It may also be used to treat high levels of salt in the body caused by congestive heart failure. It works by increasing the amount of urine the body excretes, which helps to rid the body of excess water and salt, relaxing the blood vessels and helping the blood to flow more easily throughout the body, which in turn leads to lower blood pressure.
How is Dapa used?
Dapa is usually taken once a day in the morning, or as otherwise directed by your health care provider. Patients are advised to never take this drug less than 4 hours before bedtime, as it can cause frequent sleep disturbing toilet trips. Patients should continue to take this drug as prescribed, even if the symptoms have disappeared. Drink plenty of water while taking this medication to avoid dehydration.
Adverse effects
Adverse effects which have been reported by patients taking Dapa include:
- Increased urination
- Back pain
- Gastrointestinal problems
- Coughing
- Dizziness
Other adverse effects which should be immediately disclosed to your health care provider include increased cholesterol, blurry vision, loss of libido, and increased sensitivity of the skin to light.
Warnings
This medication can lead to higher blood sugar levels. Patients who suffer from diabetes need inform their health care provider before they begin taking this medication, as they may need to adjust the management of their diabetes.
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Dapa is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
The correct dosage and prescription commonly depend on the patient and the condition being treated. Do not adjust your dosage without the approval of your health care provider. This product is only for use as prescribed and instructed. |
