What is DeWorm?
DeWorm containing the active ingredient mebendazole is considered an anthelmintic or anti-worm type of medication. The medication can be used to treat infections caused by worms such as roundworms, threadworms, hookworms and whipworms. It works by preventing worms from absorbing sugars that are essential for their survival. It can be used to kill adult worms but cannot be used to kill the eggs.
How is DeWorm used?
DeWorm is usually taken orally as a single dose or as directed by a doctor. If necessary a second treatment can be taken after a few weeks. The tablets can be taken with or without food along with a glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the patient's condition and their response to the therapy. The tablets can be broken, crushed, chewed or mixed into some food for easier consumption.
Adverse effects
Patients using DeWorm may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Stomach pain
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
- Headaches
- Dizziness
- Signs of serious infection
- Jaundice

Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
DeWorm is not always suitable for all patients.
