What is Denamarin?
Denamarin (S-Adenosylmethionine/Silybin A+B) is a combination nutritional supplement for cats and dogs. It is used to treat compromised liver function due to intoxication, acute phases of liver insufficiency and liver diseases with high inflammation. It works by increasing liver levels of glutathione, the most important liver detoxifier. It can also aid digestion and nutrient absorption to help protect liver cells from cell death and help cell repair and regeneration.
How is Denamarin used?
Denamarin (S-Adenosylmethionine/Silybin A+B) is usually given orally once per day or as otherwise directed by a veterinarian. The tablets should be given to the cats or dogs an hour prior to feeding in the morning for optimal absorption. For owners having difficulty feeding the tablets it can be disguised in a small bite of food to be fed to the cats or dogs. The tablets should always be fed whole and not crushed, broken or split prior to consumption. Contact a veterinarian for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the pet's weight, condition and their response to the therapy.
Adverse effects
Denamarin is generally very well tolerated with no known side effects. Contact a veterinarian immediately should you notice any irregularities in the pet.
