What is Dermol Ointment?
Dermol Ointment works by reducing the actions of certain chemicals in the body that cause painful, itchy, red or inflamed skin. The active ingredient clobetasol is considered a very potent topical corticosteroid type of medication. The ointment can be used to treat skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, lupus erythematosus and lichen planus. The medication can be used to relieve the symptoms of the skin conditions but cannot be used to cure the conditions.
How is Dermol Ointment used?
Dermol Ointment is usually applied topically 1 to 2 times daily or as directed by a doctor. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the condition being treated and patient’s response to the therapy. Wash and dry your hands and the affected area thoroughly prior to applying the medication. Apply a thin layer of the ointment to the affected area and gently massage it in. Do not cover the treated area with dressing or wear tight clothing unless otherwise advised by your doctor. It is not recommended to apply the medication for longer than 14 consecutive days without consulting a doctor.
