What is Differin Gel?
Differin Gel containing the active ingredient adapalene is a form of vitamin A that is considered a topical retinoid type of medication. It works by unblocking pores to prevent an accumulation of oils and dirt to decrease swelling and inflammation while also assisting the skin to renew itself. The gel is used in the treatment of acne as it will help reduce the formation of blackheads, spots and pimples from forming underneath the surface of the skin.
How is Differin Gel used?
Differin Gel is usually applied topically once per day at bedtime or as directed by a doctor. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. Prior to using the gel, gently clean and dry your hands and the affected area with a mild cleanser and water. Spread a thin layer of the medication to the affected area with a finger and gently massage it in. Do not discontinue the treatment thinking it is not working as it may take up to 8 weeks or longer before you feel the full benefits of the medication.
