What is Diprosone Cream?
Diprosone Cream works by acting on the cells in the body to decrease the amount of inflammatory substances to reduce itching, dryness, redness, swelling and various skin conditions. The active ingredient betamethasone dipropionate is considered a topical corticosteroid type of medication. It is mainly prescribed to treat eczema, dermatitis, allergic disorders, psoriasis, lupus and arthritis.

How is Diprosone Cream used?
Diprosone Cream should be applied topically as directed by a doctor, usually 1 to 4 times per day. Wash and dry the affected area as well as your hands before applying the cream. Apply a thin layer to the affected area and rub it in gently. Protect the area from rubbing and washing and let the affected area dry naturally unless directed by your doctor. Wash your hands immediately after applying the cream unless it is the area being treated.

Adverse effects
Patients using Diprosone Cream may cause unwanted side effects such as:

  • Skin thinning
  • Stretch marks
  • Change of skin color
  • Burning
  • Itching
  • Acne
  • Drying or cracking of the skin

Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or encounter more severe side effects such as:

  • Difficulty breathing or swallowing
  • Severe skin rash
  • Rapid weight gain
  • Skin infection
  • Vision problems
  • Folliculitis
  • Unwanted hair growth

Warnings
The medication should not be used long term on the genitals, face, armpits or skin creases unless directed by your doctor.

Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.

Diprosone Cream is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
