What is Diprosone OV?
Diprosone OV Ointment is an anti-inflammatory ointment that can be used for a wide variety of skin conditions. These include psoriasis, a persistent skin disorder where reddened areas are raised, rough, and dry with fine silvery scales. Another skin condition commonly treated using Diprosone OV Ointment is eczema, a skin condition that is itchy, swollen, red, and oozes fluid with crusting which may result in scaling.
How is Diprosone OV used?
Diprosone OV Ointment is applied directly to the affected area by massaging the ointment into your skin until has been absorbed. Both the affected area and your hands should be clean during application. Normally the ointment is applied twice daily. You should use Diprosone OV Ointment only as directed by your health care provider. Do not use more often than prescribed unless your health care provider specifically advises you to. Diprosone OV Ointment should not be used consistently for more than 4 weeks at a time.
Adverse effects
Some of the reported side effects of Diprosone OV Ointment include the following:
- Acne
- Stretch marks
- Easy bruising and thinning of the skin
- Infection or dryness of skin
- Irritation or redness of the face
- Changes in skin color
- Infection of hair roots
If any of these side effects persist or worsen you contact your health care provider.
Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Diprosone OV is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
The correct dosage and prescription commonly depend on the patient and the condition being treated. Do not adjust your dosage without the approval of your health care provider. This product is only for use as prescribed and instructed. |
