What is Diurin?
Diurin containing the active ingredient frusemide is known as a loop diuretics (water pill) type of medication. The medication works by preventing excess fluid and salt retention in the body caused by conditions such as heart failure, liver disease or kidney disease. Some people may also use the medication to treat hypertension to help prevent strokes, heart attacks and kidney problems.
How is Diurin used?
Diurin is usually taken orally 1 to 2 times per day or as directed by a doctor. The tablets should be taken at least 4 hours before bedtime to prevent waking up in the middle of the night to urinate. The tablets can be taken with or without food but should be taken with plenty of water throughout the day to prevent dehydration. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patient’s response to the therapy. Do not discontinue the medication without contacting a doctor as abruptly stopping the treatment can cause the conditions to return.
