What is Divaa-125?
Divaa containing the active ingredient divalproex is considered an antiepileptic or anticonvulsant type of medication. It works by increasing the amount of certain natural substances in the brain to maintain mental balance. The medication can be used to treat certain types of seizure disorders and psychiatric conditions such as mania or bipolar disorder. Some people may also use it to prevent migraine headaches but not to relieve any headaches that have already begun.
How is Divaa-125 used?
Divaa is usually taken orally 2 to 4 times per day or as directed by a doctor. To prevent an upset stomach, take the medication with some food along a glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patient’s response to the therapy. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor, even if you experience side effects, as abruptly stopping the treatment can cause a severe, long lasting and even possibly fatal seizure.
Adverse effects
Patients using Divaa may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Diarrhea
- Dizziness
- Drowsiness
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Changes in weight or appetite
- Hair loss
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or encounter more severe side effects such as:
- Mental or mood changes
- Loss of coordination
- Blurred vision
- Jaundice
- Worsening seizures
- Unusual bleeding or bruising
- Difficulty breathing or swallowing
Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Divaa-125 is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
