What is Divret?
Divret containing the active ingredient indapamide is considered a diuretics or water pill type of medication. The medication will cause the kidney to reduce excess salt and water in the body into the urine as well as dilating blood vessels. It can be used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), swelling and breathing problems caused by congestive heart failure and can also increase the patient’s ability to exercise. Treating hypertension can help reduce the risk of strokes, heart attacks and kidney problems.
How is Divret used?
Divret is usually taken orally once per day in the morning or as directed by a doctor. The medication can be taken with or without food but should be taken with plenty of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. It is recommended to avoid taking the tablets within 4 hours of bedtime to prevent having to wake up in the middle of the night to urinate. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting a doctor, even if you feel well, as hypertension usually does not have visible symptoms.
Adverse effects
Patients using Divret may encounter unwanted side effects such as:

- Dry mouth

- Irregular heartbeat
- Dehydration

Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Divret is not always suitable for all patients.
