What is Dutas-T?
Dutas-T contains the 2 active ingredients dutasteride, a 5 alpha reductase and tamsulosin, an alpha blocker type of medication. The medication can help prevent the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) and also help relax the muscles in the prostate and bladder. It is used to treat difficulty starting to urinate, weak stream, incomplete bladder emptying and urgent or frequent urination caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
How is Dutas-T used?
Dutas-T is usually taken orally once per day or as directed by a doctor. The medication should be taken 30 minutes after the same meal each day, along with a full glass of water to prevent an upset stomach. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient's condition and their response to the therapy. The capsules should be swallowed whole and not chewed, crushed, split or broken before consumption.
Adverse effects
Patients using Dutas-T may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Decrease in sex drive
- Decreased amount of semen
- Erectile dysfunction
- Painful erection that lasts for hours
- Breast tenderness or enlargement
- Disturbance in sleeping habits
- Blurred vision
- Signs of infection

Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Dutas-T is not always suitable for all patients.
