What is Eptus 50?
Eptus 50 containing the active ingredient eplerenone is considered an aldosterone antagonist type of medication. The medication works by blocking the action of the natural substance aldosterone to lower the amount of sodium and water the body retains. It can be used alone or along with other medications to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). Lowering blood pressure can help prevent kidney problems, strokes and heart attacks. It can also be used to treat chronic heart failure in people who have recently had a heart attack.
How is Eptus 50 used?
Eptus 50 is usually taken orally 1 to 2 times per day or as directed by a doctor. The medication can be taken with or without food but should be taken with a glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient's condition and their response to the therapy. Do not discontinue the treatment without consulting a doctor, even if you feel well, as hypertension usually has no visible symptoms.
Adverse effects
Patients taking Eptus 50 may encounter unwanted side effects such as:

- Dizziness
- Diarrhea
- Stomach pain
- Nausea
- Cold or flu like symptoms
- Excessive fatigue
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or encounter more severe side effects such as:
- Increased potassium blood levels

- Abdominal vaginal bleeding
- Irregular heartbeat
- Trouble breathing or swallowing

Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Eptus 50 is not always suitable for all patients.
