What is Erytheocin?
Erytheocin containing the active ingredient erythromycin estolate is considered a macrolide antibiotic with a wide range of uses. It can be used to treat bacterial infections such as Legionnaires' disease, whooping cough, diphtheria, venereal disease, as well as ear, intestine and skin infections. Some people may also use the medication prior to surgery or dental procedures to prevent any infections. The medication can be used to treat bacterial infections but cannot be used to treat viral infections such as the common cold or flu.
How is Erytheocin used?
Erytheocin is usually taken orally 2 to 4 times per day or as directed by a doctor. The tablets should be taken on an empty stomach along with a full glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the condition being treated and the patient’s response to the therapy. Do not discontinue the medication before the fully prescribed cycle is completed, even if symptoms seem to have healed, as abruptly stopping the treatment may cause the infection to return and cause the bacteria to become immune to antibiotics.
Adverse effects
Patients using Erytheocin may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Irregular heartbeats
- Hearing loss
- Dark urine
- Jaundice
- Stomach pain or cramps
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
- Nausea
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or worsen.
Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Erytheocin is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
The correct dosage and prescription commonly depend on the patient and the condition being treated. Do not adjust your dosage without the approval of your health care provider. This product is only for use as prescribed and instructed. |
