What is Falcigo?
Falcigo (Artesunate) used to treat Malaria. It is especially effecient as a first-line treatment for sever cases and is aprroved by the World Helath Organization. Each package of Falcigo will contain 60mg of Artesunate powder and the required solutions (sodium bicarbonate and sodium chloride) for mixing the powder.
How is Falcigo used?
Guidelines suggest a loading dose of 2mg/kg, followed by a second dose of 1mg/kg in one hour and a third dose of 1mg/kg after 24 hours. Check with your doctor about the dosage required for your condition.
Artesunate powder is for injection. It will need to be dissolved in a solution for injection. This will consist of sodium bicarbonate and sodium chloride (included in the pack). Artesunate should be injected intramuscularly or intervenously. Mix the powder with the solutions just before injecting. Any unused ingredients should be discarded.
Adverse effects
Artesunate at normal dosages is usually well tolerated The main side effect yo may experience is fever. If it is taken at higher dosages, it can lead to cardiotoxicity.
Warnings
If you are pregnant, tell your doctor before taking Artesunate. It may not be safe to take this medicine during the first trimester of pregnancy.
