What is Fertomid-25?
Fertomid containing the active ingredient clomiphene citrate is considered an ovulatory stimulant type of medication. The medication works by stimulating an increase in the amount of hormones in the female body which control ovulation. It is mainly prescribed to treat infertility in women caused by failure of ovulation.
How is Fertomid-25 used?
Fertomid is usually taken once per day in a 5 day cycle, starting on or around day 5 of the cycle. The medication can be taken with or without food but should be taken with a full glass of water. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and treatment cycle as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy. Do not take more or less than the prescribed amount or change the frequency of using the tablets.
Adverse effects
Patients using Fertomid may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Upset stomach
- Bloating
- Headaches
- Dizziness
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or encounter more severe side effects such as:
- Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS)
- Flushing
- Breast tenderness or discomfort
- Vision problems
- Insomnia
- Sudden or rapid weight changes
- Irregular heartbeat
Warnings
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
Fertomid-25 is not always suitable for all patients. Always consult your health care provider prior to using this medication if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to conceive, using any other medication (prescription or non-prescription), using any herbal products or supplements, or if you have any allergies or other health problems.
