What is Fiprofort?
Fiprofort containing the active ingredient fipronil is an insecticide type of medication for small dogs up to 10kg. The medication works by causing uncontrolled activity on the central nervous system of insects and mites to eliminate them. It is proven to be extremely effective in killing fleas, ticks, lice and insect eggs and larvae within 24 to 48 of application. The solution will remain to be effective against ticks and fleas for at least 1 month depending on the environment around the pet.
How is Fiprofort used?
Fiprofort is usually applied topically once every 2 to 4 weeks unless otherwise directed by a veterinarian. The solution should be used for small dogs at least 8 weeks of age and weight less than 10kg. To apply the medication, part the hair at the base of the neck between the shoulder blades until the skin is visible. Break the snap-off top from the pipette and gently squeeze the entire contents onto the skin. Do not allow the dog to lick the application site or rub against other animals until the application site is dry. Contact a veterinarian for the correct dosage and frequency of treatment as it will depend on the pet's weight, condition and their response to the therapy.
Adverse effects
Fiprofort is generally very well tolerated with minimal reported side effects. Contact a veterinarian immediately should you notice any irregular activities in the pet.
Warnings
The medication should be used on small sized dogs below 10kg.
Immediately proceed to the veterinarian if your pet suffers an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
