What is Flexura?
Flexura containing the active ingredient metaxalone is considered a muscle relaxant. It works by blocking pain sensations in the brain. The medication should be used in combination with rest, physical therapy and other treatments to relieve pain caused by muscle injuries, spasms, sprains and strains.
How is Flexura used?
Flexura is usually taken orally 3 to 4 times per day or as directed by a doctor. To decrease the chance of side effects, the medication should be taken on an empty stomach or after a light meal. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage and length of treatment as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the therapy.
Adverse effects
Patients using Flexura may encounter unwanted side effects such as:
- Drowsiness
- Dizziness
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Upset stomach
- Headaches
Contact a doctor immediately should side effects persist or encounter more severe side effects such as:
- Difficulty breathing
- Jaundice
- Unusual bruising or bleeding
- Unusual fatigue or weakness
- Seizures
- Signs of infection
- Irregular heartbeat
Warnings
The medication may cause unusual results in certain medical tests. Let any doctor know if you are using the medication before any tests.
Immediately proceed to your nearest emergency department if you suffer an allergic reaction. Symptoms usually associated with such a reaction include difficulty breathing or swallowing, chest tightness, swelling, skin rashes, and hives.
