What is Flixotide Accuhaler?
Flixotide Accuhaler with the active ingredient fluticasone propionate is classified as a corticosteroid type of medication. It works by decreasing the amount of chemicals produced by the body that cause inflammation. Reducing inflammation in the lungs and passages leading to the lungs will allow for easier breathing. It is used to prevent difficulty breathing, chest tightness, wheezing and coughing caused by asthma. Some people may also use the medication to treat other ongoing lung diseases such as chronic bronchitis, emphysema and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
How is Flixotide Accuhaler used?
The Flixotide Accuhaler should only be inhaled by mouth, usually 2 times per day or as directed by a doctor. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their reaction to the medication. The inhaler should be held at a level and flat position before administering the spray. It is important to inhale each dose deeply to ensure the right amount of the drug into your lungs. If more than 1 inhalation is needed, the patient should wait at least 1 minute between doses.
