What is Flixotide Inhaler?
Flixotide Inhaler with the active ingredient fluticasone propionate is a synthetic corticosteroid used by patients to breathe easier. When the medication is inhaled into the lungs it is absorbed into the cells to decrease inflammation and excess mucus formation to prevent asthma attacks. It is a preventer inhaler and needs to be used regularly for maximum effect. Some people may also use it to treat emphysema, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and chronic bronchitis.
How is Flixotide Inhaler used?
The Flixotide Inhaler should be used as directed by a doctor, usually twice per day. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the patient’s condition and their response to the medication. Prior to the initial dose or if the inhaler has not been used for over 7 days, the inhaler will need to be primed before using. Prime the inhaler by pointing the nozzle away from the face and releasing 4 test sprays. Shake the inhaler for 5 seconds before each spray. Place the mouthpiece in your mouth, close your lips, push down on the canister and inhale deeply. Hold your breath 10 seconds before exhaling. If you require any additional doses, wait at least 30 seconds before applying the second dose.
