What is Flixotide Inhaler?
Flixotide inhaler is considered a corticosteroid consisting of the active ingredient fluticasone propionate. When inhaled into the lungs, the medication can decrease excess mucus formation and inflammation to allow easier breathing for patients. It is a preventative inhaler for asthma when used regularly. Some people may also use the medication to treat emphysema, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and chronic bronchitis.
How is Flixotide Inhaler used?
The Flixotide Inhaler should be used as directed by a doctor, usually twice daily. Contact a doctor for the correct dosage as it will depend on the patient’s response to the medication as well as the condition being treated. The inhaler will need to be primed before the initial dose or if it has not been used in over 7 days. To prime the inhaler, simply point the nozzle away from the face and apply 4 test sprays. Shake the inhaler well prior to using the medication. To use the inhaler, place the mouthpiece in your mouth, close your lips, push down on the canister, inhale deeply and hold your breath for 10 seconds before exhaling. Wait at least 30 seconds between doses if the patient requires any additional does.
